Jereh and Angeline's Wedding

Just recently, I witnessed a wedding of my two good friends at Chateau de Busay Cebu.  I met the groom, Jereh when he joined the in-house team of Robinsons Land Corporation-Cebu just a few months after I came on board. He struck me as a guy who has a big faith in God and I was not wrong.  He indeed is a devout Christian and I guess one of his biggest prayers were answered when he married his longtime girlfriend Angeline just a few days ago.  I was lucky to bring my Sony A57 camera to the special event.  I still brought it even if I was one of the secondary sponsors and I did not regret my decision as I was able to take some pretty nice memories on their wedding day.  So, here are some of the shots that I took during Mr. and Mrs. Jereh Brua's wedding.  I took many pictures with my kit lens but I also used my Minolta 70-210 F4 Beercan in many of my shots.

Cebu Dog Fest and Dog Show at Parkmall

Parkmall, Cebu's most pet-frieendly mall was the venue of the Cebu Dog Fest and Dog Show.  Dogs of different breeds were the stars of that day. Pet lovers and curios spectators trooped to the mall and watch well-groomed and good looking dogs vie to the best in show. The show had many categories including a puppy division.  In the end, a Siberian Husky became the top dog.

Sony A57 Adventures: Majestic Mount Mayon

My new A57 camera had its first out of town trip a month ago.  It so happened that my mom ask me and Steph to go to Bicol with her to visit her eldest brother.  Bicol's most distinguishable landmark is definitely the famed Mayon Volcano.  After touching down in Legazpi City, Albay, we had an afternoon tour to Lignon Hill.  Lignon Hill offers an excellent vantage point to view Mayon at the other site of the hill, one can view the runway of Legazpi airport. The Sony a57 was a great companion in our short trip.  Check out some of the pictures we took at Lignon Hill.

My new Camera: Sony A57

After 3 years of using my dependable Sony A330, I decided it was time for an upgrade.  I decided on buying the Sony A57.  One major reason is that it is a Sony and I can still use my A-mount lenses like my super durable Minolta 70-210 4 Beercan. Another good reason was Citibank's 24 months zero interest paylite scheme on the unit.

What do I like with my new A57? Here some of my early observations.

  1. Super fast - Since the camera is capable of 12 fps, it will be easier for me to take photos of people in motion like in sports.  Jump shots are so easy with this camera.
  2. Videos - There are times that photos are not enough.  The camera is capable of capturing moments in HD.
  3. Panorama shoot - I do not have wide angled lenses but I would not need as well as the camera has a panorama mode where you can practically make panorama images in just a few seconds. No more stitching since the cam can do it for you.  Panorama can even be in 3D.
  4. Picture effects - I really have fun playing with the color effects and the other PS-type modes that this camera offers.
  5. Auto HDR - Get better details on landscape photos with this feature.
  6. Handheld Twilight - You can get clear for night shoots even without the use of a tripod.
  7. Auto + and Auto - The camera is so easy to use that even my mom or my young nephews can shoot nice pictures with it.
So far, I really love using my new cam. I will be sharing more photos soon....
